Pigmentation & melasma

Pigmentation and melasma concern close-up

Pigmentation is one of the most treatable-looking yet most misunderstood skin concerns, and melasma in particular punishes aggressive treatment. The Skin Method's pathway is deliberately patient: graduated peels led by the Mela Peel Forte, meticulous sun protection, and honest guidance about what maintenance really looks like.

The pathway

  • Assess first: the OBSERVE skin analysis ($50) maps how deep your pigment sits, which shapes everything that follows.
  • Treat in series: the Mela Peel Forte ($199) is the menu's targeted option for pigmentation and melasma-prone skin, usually planned as a spaced series, with the Milk Peel and Cosmo Peel supporting tone and texture between.
  • Protect relentlessly: daily SPF is the non-negotiable that makes every dollar of treatment count; without it, pigment returns.

Melasma, honestly

Melasma is a managed condition rather than a one-off fix: hormones, heat and UV all feed it, and the wrong treatment can darken it. That is why this pathway favours considered, progressive peels over maximum-strength anything, and why expectations are set honestly at assessment. Well-managed skin can look dramatically more even, and staying that way is a maintenance rhythm, not a single course.

Frequently asked

How many sessions does pigmentation take?

Surface pigment often softens across a short series; deeper and hormonal pigment is slower and needs maintenance. The analysis will give you a realistic map before you commit, and outcomes are never guaranteed.

Why not just do the strongest peel?

Because reactive and melasma-prone skin can respond to aggression by producing more pigment. Graduated treatment with obsessive sun protection consistently outperforms the sledgehammer approach.

Will it come back?

Pigment that is UV- or hormone-driven will try to return, which is why SPF and periodic maintenance are built into the plan from day one rather than mentioned at the end.
